Murray's journey began with being overlooked by major college programs despite being named the New York state Gatorade Football Player of the Year in 2007 while playing at Onondaga Central outside Syracuse. He chose UCF and battled injuries for three seasons before finally breaking out as a senior in 2012, rushing for over 1,100 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The disrespect continued into the NFL draft where Murray slipped to the sixth round, selected by the Oakland Raiders. However, his career success proved those doubters wrong. Despite being drafted behind many others, his 6,552 career rushing yards surpassed all but Le'Veon Bell, and he accumulated 59 touchdowns compared to Bell's 42.

Murray played for six NFL teams, including two stints with the New Orleans Saints, showcasing his durability and reliability over a decade-long career.
